Here and There began with an imagined image of Palermo formed through a conversation with a Taiwanese friend, revealing unexpected similarities with Taiwanese interiors from the 1980s–90s. The project developed through archival research and was later grounded by fieldwork in Palermo, where I photographed private living rooms that echoed homes in Taiwan.
The book is structured as visual pairings of Sicily (“there”) and Taiwan (“here”), alongside fragmented speculative drawings made before my visit. An interview with my mother adds a personal reflection on memory and domestic space.
